Our location

The Mussel and Steak Bar can be found in the Grassmarket area of Edinburgh, overshadowed by the magnificent Edinburgh Castle and only a few minutes walk from many of the main attractions of the city, including Edinburgh Castle, Princes Street and Waverley train station and just a stone's throw away from the famous Greyfriars Bobby Statue and Kirkyard.

Settled in the heart of Edinburgh's notable Old Town, the Grassmarket was historically a busy and bustling horse and cattle market and more sinisterly known as an area used to perform public hangings! Maggie Dickson being the last person to be hung in the main square but who subsequently survived to tell the tale! The Grassmarket is now a bustling, vibrant centre with bars and restaurants attracting visitors from all over the world, all year round and we, The Mussel and Steak Bar have a bird's eye view right from the high side of Scotland's capital.

The historic stories and tales that envelop The Grassmarket are endless and a delight for adults and children alike.

The area is now a popular visitor destination, it's cobbled streets packed with many of the best independent shopping that Edinburgh has to offer, with many family friendly hotels and restaurants and a wide variety of quirky boutiques and gift shops.

During the day you can treat yourself to a unique piece of jewellery or knitwear or soak up the atmosphere at night with some live music.

If visiting the city, you are sure to find something to take your fancy around the Grassmarket, and then relax and drop in to The Mussel and Steak Bar for lunch or dinner.

However, even locals of the city will find themselves at home at The Mussel and Steak Bar, where the great food, friendly service and warm atmosphere make this a great place to visit for any occasion.

There is never a dull moment in the Grassmarket!
