About Us


The Mussel & Steak Bar is  dedicated to serve quality fresh seafood and locally sourced steaks in a comfy surrounding with a personable and welcoming service. The restaurant is located in the heart of Edinburgh's Old Town on the Grassmarket. Just a few steps from the historic Victoria street and Royal Mile you can get a glimpse of the Edinburgh Castle from our windows, while enjoying the best of mussels, oysters and steaks that Scotland has to offer. 

Our menu is based around seafood and steak favourites with clever twists. We serve tempting dishes: fresh oysters, fish and chips,  kilo pots of irresistible mussels, and matured Scotch beef steaks. Depending on the season we also like to surprise our guests with daily specials and our World Famous Sharing Platter of lobsters, crabs and scallops is something that you should definitely try.

8oz Rib eye steak: dry aged for a minimum of 35 days, locally sourced from the Central Belt of Scotland, served with hand-cut chips cooked in beef dripping


Shellfish Platter: king scallop, mussels, clams, North Atlantic prawn, squid, oyster, garlic, mangetout, slow braised in house chunky bouillabaisse
